Position Summary
We are looking for a thoroughEstimatorto calculate possible costs and gains of construction projects. You will collect and analyze data according to a series of useful variables. The goal is to provide the company with accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning. You will attend client meetings during the initial phase to assist with, design feedback, budgeting, material costs, schedule of the project and coordination.
As an Estimator your key accountabilities will involve:
- Acquiring understanding of the requirements of the project at hand.
- Selecting metrics to produce valid estimates.
- Visiting sites, warehouses, and other venues to gather essential information.
- Completing estimates on projects; project site visits, quantity take-off, pricing and can present the estimate for management.
- Analyzing data and producing forecasts.
- Performing on going risk assessment of trades.
- Preparing detailed reports or bids for submission to appropriate parties.
- Continuously managing trade tenders, trade qualification, preparation of scopes of work and tender analysis
- Fostering relationships with key vendors/clients (subcontractors, architects etc.)
As an Estimator your success is dependent on:
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- The ability to build solid long-lasting relationships.
- The ability to anticipate problems and solve proactively.
- A high attention to detail.
- A high degree of professionalism and maturity.
- Strong time management skills, particularly the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
As an Estimator your experience and qualifications will include:
- Proven 2-3 years' experience as a construction estimator.
- Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
- Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be an asset.
