BGCO is hiring a full-time and a part-time Family Support Worker for our Foster Parent Support Program at our Kelowna Club. The Support Worker provides direct support to caregivers and families, helping them develop skills and access resources to improve family functioning and ensure the well-being of young people. This role includes crisis intervention, advocacy, skill-building, and linkage to community services. Support Workers work collaboratively with families to create and implement individualized service plans while providing guidance and emotional support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gathers information relevant to the clients problems, needs and risks by interviewing, observing behavior, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires. Assesses the information gathered to identify client problems, needs and risks. Develops and implements a service plan within program guidelines.
- Provides support, guidance and problem-solving to clients to address issues related to family functioning in an individual or group setting using as outlined in the program to resolve the identified problems, needs and risks.
- Provides immediate, solution-focused support to prevent placement breakdowns and offers on-call assistance during family crises or investigations.
- Participates in the development, modification and evaluation of client service plans with the integrated case management team. Participate in integrated case management meetings on a regular basis to report on clients activities and progress.
- Outlines services provided by the program and/or organization. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
- Provides parenting skill building to clients on issues such as parent-child interaction, child development, discipline and guidance, and behavior management.
- Provides participants with skill building through individual and group work such as problem solving and healthy communication.
- Provides emotional support and feedback to clients. Including advocating for caregiver relief.
- Plans and conducts group educational sessions on topics related to participants issues.
- Liaises with and/or promotes the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel as required. Accompany clients to meetings and appointments as required.
- Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the supervisor and regulatory bodies.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related human / social service field.
- One (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Possess a valid Class 5 BC Drivers license and reliable vehicle with the appropriate liability insurance

This position requires union membership.
Hours:
Role 1: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm;
Role 2: 17.5 hours per week, 2.5 days per week.
Rate of Pay: $29.17 per hour
