Job DescriptionAccountabilities:
- Acts as support person for Health Information Management (HIM) clerical, coders, management as well as physicians as related to scanning and online chart completion
- Assigns naming conventions to documents, creates and deletes document types in the scanning system
- Adds document type bar codes to new documents
- Maintains master storybook, including document database management
- Participant in document management committee meetings
- Performs quality assurance of scanned documents to ensure image quality and indexing standards are met as set out in scanning vendor contract
- Liaises with scanning vendor regarding issues discovered during chart audits and performs corrections such as moving/deleting/merging of misfiled documents
- Takes initiative to recommend workflow improvements to current workflow/processes
- Troubleshoots issues related to bar code scanner application and ImageNow (Perceptive Content) software and advises Information Services team of the issues
- Participates in implementation of new software modules and upgrades as needed
- Corrects and merges duplicate patient records as required
- Trains new HIM staff on in-house scanning processes as well as quality assurance
- Orientates new HIM staff and new physicians to online chart completion processes
- Performs quantitative/qualitative analysis on charts routed to complete pending and returned workflow queues within ImageNow (Perceptive Content)
- Liaises with physicians regarding discrepancies within the ImageNow (Perceptive Content) chart completion system
- Graduate of an accredited health information management program
- Certified by and active membership with the Canadian College of Health Information Management Association
- Minimum of one year experience in an electronic health records management environment
- Knowledge of HIM health information systems, including workflow and processes
- Ability to examine a document and determine its proper placement within the electronic record
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Sound knowledge of Meditech MRI/ADM modules, ImageNow (Perceptive Content) application, bar code applications
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize work
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to travel between all Osler sites as required

Additional Information
Hours: Currently days, fully onsite as role is involved in direct patient care needed onsite for each shift (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary:
Minimum: $29.16 per hour
Maximum: $30.67 per hour
