About The Role

In this newly created role, the Energy Manager will lead Bosa Properties' energy management efforts with a focus on enhancing building efficiency, greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects and managing energy consumption & optimization reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Develop Bosa Properties Strategic Energy Management Plan (SEMP), with insights and guidance from key stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with consults to conduct energy studies and energy audits on our portfolio of various asset types where appropriate, in alignment with the Strategic Energy Management Plan;
  • Submit quarterly assessments to utility partner, executives, and department leaders, outlining all completed, current and planned projects that will result in energy and GHG emission savings;
  • Support in the implementation of environmental sustainability actions and GHG reporting initiatives;
  • Monitor, analyze and implement data verification controls for Bosa Properties' GHG management software, producing quarterly reports;
  • Educate and promote the Energy Management Plan with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Act as an in-house research and technical resource for energy consumption-related inquiries on new developments and retrofit projects;
  • Support the development and execution of retrofit projects that result in energy efficiency, cost savings and lower GHG emissions;
  • Proactively secure government and utility incentives, ensuring all required invoices are submitted for maximum return.

What You Bring

The Energy Manager must have at least one of the following:

  • Master's designation in business, planning, sustainability or appropriate field;
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng);
  • Registered Engineering Technologist (RET);
  • BCIT Sustainable Energy Management Associate (BCEM);
  • UBC Masters of Engineering Leadership (MEL) in Clean Energy Engineering;
  • Douglas College Practical Energy and Advanced Knowledge (PEAK) – Buildings;
  • Certified Journeyman Electrician
  • Certified Technician (HVAC, instrumentation, or other relevant discipline);
  • CIET Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

In addition to:

  • Three (3) years of experience related to sustainability and/or energy efficiency;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization;
  • Knowledge of industry-leading energy-efficient solutions for optimizing building performance; Experience in financial analysis, capital planning, and preparing and managing budgets;
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to producing high-quality work and continuous improvement;
  • Ability to develop compelling business cases and write comprehensive reports;
  • Hands-on experience with Energy Star Portfolio Manager and Microsoft Excel.

Our salary ranges and bonus percentages are determined by job family and level. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, education and training, years of relevant experience, and internal equity.
