Position Overview
Granite is seeking a Manager, Corporate Accounting reporting to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Accounting to join our Toronto Office to provide support to the accounting department through the accurate and timely preparation of journal entries, working papers and account reconciliations for Granites corporate entities in North America, in addition to participating in the budgeting process and leading special projects for continuous improvements.
The successful candidate will partner closely with our Finance teams and wider corporate teams across our global offices to add value to the organization and global portfolio.
Job Functions
Manage daily operations of corporate accounting functions, including journal entries and maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, cash, fixed assets and third-party debt and equity transactions.
Record and reconcile intercompany transactions including cash transfers, investments, distributions and management fees and maintain the intercompany accounts.
Process and review monthly foreign currency revaluations.
Record and reconcile daily bank transactions and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
Prepare month end reconciliations, working papers and journal entries including accruals, prepayments, amortization, and other entries as required.
Analyze variances from budget, forecast and prior period to provide commentary.
Proactively identify and resolve issues regarding the monthly financial results and liaise with various finance teams as required.
Prepare HST returns and initiate payments for HST registered entities in Canada.
Participate in annual budgeting process.
Review construction reports and prepare quarterly CAPEX schedules.
Manage and support the employee expense reimbursement system processes (SAP Concur).
Manage the legal accrual process and liaise with various teams as required.
Provide assistance to external and internal auditors.
Continuously develop and implement process improvements, system automation, and other best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy of the corporate accounting function.
Assist with special projects and other ad-hoc requests, as required.

Skills/Requirements
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, including 3 years of experience as a Senior Corporate Accountant at a publicly traded organization.
Previous experience in a multi currency environment or Real Estate industry is an asset.
Strong knowledge and working experience with IFRS.
Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Experience with Yardi Voyager 7s is an asset.
A self starter with good interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build relationships within their team and across departments.
