What is the role?

The Civil Engineer & Project Manager will lead and manage various municipal and civil engineering projects, focusing on municipal design systems. The role offers opportunities to work across multiple sectors, including Transit, Land Development, Water Resources, and Municipal projects.

The candidate will work on projects in southwestern Ontario and will also support projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area and across Ontario.

The role provides opportunities to contribute to significant projects across a range of sectors while supporting the growth and development of the engineering team, with the added benefit of collaborating with teams in different locations across Ontario.     In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Work with southwest Ontario lead to develop new opportunities and increase business.
  • Represent LEA as a consulting Engineer in meetings with different clients, stakeholders including Municipalities and Transit Agencies.
  • Design and Reporting of Storm Water Management Systems, Municipal Systems (Watermains, Storm and Sanitary Sewers, Roads) including Trenchless Design (water main and sewer rehabilitation and various tunnelling techniques).
  • Servicing Studies and Environment Assessments including capacity analysis and modelling, Condition Assessments, Sewer Capacity Analysis, and Construction and Life Cycle Project Costing.
  • Act as a Project Coordinator or Manager overseeing budgets, schedules, risk management, and project reporting.
  • Manage the collection of background information and plan and review field investigations for municipal projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of composite utility plans and utility conflict identification and mitigation.
  • Seal various Engineering drawings and reports as required.
  • Attend project meetings and interface with clients and with other Engineers.
  • Coordinate within the design team and assist project managers with schedules and day-to-day project management tasks.
  • Assist in developing project specifications and cost estimates.
  • Liaise with other internal and multi-disciplined projects and departments and sub-consultants in coordinating technical aspects of the work under the direction of a Senior Engineer.
  • Participate in training activities and provide technical training for other members of the team.
  • Participate in the preparation of Municipal, Transit proposals.
  • Continuously grow professional skills and knowledge through training sessions, seminars, workshops, and involvement in professional associations to stay updated on the latest trends, software, and technology.
  • Assisting with managing other related assignments within the scope of the Civil Division.
    The qualifications you need:
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering with 10 to 15 years of experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Proficiency in industry-relevant software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, Civil3D)
  • Strong knowledge of Municipal and Transportation Engineering principles, design standards, and Jurisdictional Design Guidelines (e.g., OPSS/OPSD, TAC, MTO, AODA)
  • Strategic, process-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and designers
