Position Description

The Calgary based Environmental Project Coordinator will join a growing team of professionals who are passionate about the SYLVIS mission to Make Waste History through sustainable residuals management. The focus of the Project Coordinator role is to ensure the smooth, productive implementation of our operational and consulting projects, combining office-based duties with fieldwork throughout Alberta and other provinces. This role presents an opportunity to gain valuable experience in environmental consulting, operations, and project coordination. Functions and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and manage operational and environmental projects, ensuring they run smoothly from start to finish
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in hands on environmental fieldwork, including site visits, sampling, and data collection
  • Schedule and supervise contractors and internal resources
  • Support project documentation, including reports, proposals, safety documents, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager, tracking project status and reporting progress
  • Manage, track and organize project data, including report preparation
  • Work with mapping software (ArcGIS, Google Earth) to generate maps and spatial data
  • Communicate with clients and interested parties, ensuring timely and clear communication
  • Perform various administrative tasks to support project teams and ensure project success

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in environmental science, plant science, soil science, agriculture, or a related field
  • Valid Canadian drivers license
  • Reliable transportation for commuting to the office and local field sites

Skills and Experience

  • 2 3 years of experience in environmental monitoring, data management, supervision of heavy equipment contractors, and project coordination
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willing to travel and work on project sites across Alberta and potentially other provinces
  • Experience in consulting or customer service is an asset
  • Experience working in agriculture or mine reclamation is an asset
  • Experience operating or working around heavy equipment or on farms and mines is an asset
  • Experience with residuals management (ash, biosolids, etc.) is an asset
