About the Organization:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle is a regional social planning and development organization. The BANAC service region now covers Simcoe County, Muskoka, and York Region. BANAC works in cooperation with communities in areas of concern where coordinated efforts are required to meet the needs which positively impact the region. BANAC will continue in this social planning capacity, offering consultation and support for our community development. BANAC offers many innovative programs and services including, Family Wellness, Childcare, Seniors Care and Long-Term Care, Cultural Services, and wholistic Health Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team.
About Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin:
Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin is an interprofessional Care Team providing traditional healing, primary care, mental health and health promotion services to Indigenous community members in the North Simcoe Muskoka region. Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin works with an interprofessional team to support community members to address mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Our primary care team provides services in the community, in clinic locations, and through collaboration with Indigenous and mainstream service partners.
About the Role:
The Data and Information Systems Coordinator will support the Data Integrity and Healthcare Quality Manager in the collection, analysis, coordination, and reporting of healthcare quality data and service information. This role requires an experienced interprofessional collaborator who can work with clinicians, community agencies, privacy professionals, and IT professionals, to develop information pathways and improve use of data tools. This role will be the liaison for our IT support, as well as providing implementation assistance of tools like the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Ocean and other digital health solutions to promote seamless and standardized data collection and informed decision making. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail are essential. This role can be completed through remote work with periodic in-person meetings and events as required with advanced notice.
What You Bring:
A bachelors degree in a related discipline (Data Management, Business Administration, Statistics, Health Sciences or Information Management) or equivalent education and experience.
A minimum of 3 years' experience working with data systems
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (A skills test will be given to assess your ability to use common Excel functions and to analyze outputs prior to a job offer)
Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations will be considered an asset
Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in problem-solving, analysis, evidence-based decision making, and evaluating information effectively.
Demonstrated expertise in data quality and clinical information management best practices.
Knowledge of primary care and demonstrated interest in the use of data for quality improvement.
Sound knowledge of performance improvement techniques and practices used in healthcare settings, process redesign and system implementation experience.
Highly effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with partners.

Work is typically performed in clinics, offices, and institutional and community settings.
Regular travel to meetings, institutions and communities, will be required vehicle an asset
Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement
Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar.
Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:
