WHO WE ARE
Opened in 1914 and welcoming over 1.3 million visitors annually, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is Canada's most-visited museum, ranking among the top 10 cultural institutions in North America. At ROM, we are dedicated to building and sharing global collections, sharing knowledge, inspiring learning, and fostering community engagement. As a globally recognized field research institute, ROM houses an impressive collection of over 18 million artworks, cultural objects, and natural history specimens, showcased in over 40 galleries and exhibition spaces. We are committed to creating a space where art, culture, and nature intersect, connecting people and communities to the past, present and shared future.
As we continue to work toward our goals to transform and evolve as one of the world's foremost 21st-century museums, we seek passionate and dynamic team members who embody our mission and values.
WHO WE NEED
We are looking for a vibrant and outgoing Promotions Ambassador to join our Tourism & Promotions team. As a key public-facing representative of ROM, you will play a vital role in building awareness and driving attendance by sharing the Museum's stories and experiences with diverse audiences across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on interaction, excels at public engagement and storytelling, while bringing energy and enthusiasm to every conversation.
A background in the arts, culture, or education sector—especially with experience in museums, festivals, or performance—can be a strong asset in connecting with our audiences and enriching the storytelling experience.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Serve as a dynamic and engaging representative of ROM, sparking curiosity and conversation about our exhibitions, programs, and collections with diverse audiences.
  • Use your storytelling skills to deliver memorable, high-impact experiences—both onsite at the Museum and offsite at festivals, community events, and activations.
  • Lead guided experiences such as 1-hour scripted private tours and scavenger hunts that entertain, inform, and connect visitors of all ages to art, culture, and nature.
  • Bring a creative, expressive approach to audience engagement—whether you're introducing visitors to a rare object or animating a pop-up booth with enthusiasm and flair.
  • Set up and take down promotional displays and activity stations, ensuring each activation reflects ROM's high standards of presentation and visitor experience.
  • Support administrative tasks and contribute to the success of promotional campaigns through data collection, visitor feedback, and collaboration with the broader Marketing team.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Completion of some post-secondary education (less than 2 years) in marketing, education, museum studies, or a related field. Candidates with a foundation in the arts are especially encouraged to apply.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Brand Ambassador or Field Representative, especially in roles interacting with children or adults.
  • A natural storyteller with strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering guided tours.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • A friendly, professional demeanor with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A self-starter who is punctual, dependable, and able to work independently or in a team.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 15 kg and working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
  • Ontario Drivers' License is an asset.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Perks: Free ROM membership for permanent full-time and part-time staff, plus discounts to over 200 attractions through Attractions Ontario.
  • And more!
