Plasman is currently seeking a new member to join our Supply Chain team as a Customs Trade Compliance Specialist:
Key Responsibilities for Customs Trade Compliance- Free Trade Program Management
- Classification of Goods: Ensure proper classification of machinery, finished goods, raw materials, packaging, and specialty items in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for Canada and the USA.
- Canadian Customs Support: Assist Canadian plants with CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) activities.
- Customs Inquiry Management: Support tracking and respond to inquiries from U.S. and Canadian customs offices.
- Manufacturing & Logistics Support: Assist manufacturing facilities and logistics teams with customs-related and brokerage inquiries and provide compliance solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements for all imports and exports.
- Certificates of Origin & USMCA Compliance: Manage and issue certificates of origin and ensure compliance with USMCA for imports and exports.
- Audit Representation: Act as the primary representative for CBSA, CBP, customers, and third-party audit requests.
- Customer Compliance Requests: Lead the collection of responses for customer inquiries related to Customs Trade Compliance.
- Duty Drawback & Remission Programs: Oversee applicable duty drawback or remission programs and ensure proper application.
- Bond Monitoring: Track bond saturation levels and manage applications for adjustments or renewals.
- Process Documentation & Training: Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for the logistics team and provide customs compliance training.
- MARS Compliance Program: Execute and maintain the MARS import/export compliance program.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in customs compliance, logistics, or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international import/export regulations and HTS classification.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with trade compliance software.
