Job Title: Lab Supervisor

Job Summary: The Lab Supervisor will oversee laboratory operations, including quality control, research and development activities, and process development work. The role requires hands-on work in the lab and pilot plant, managing experiments, analyzing samples, developing innovative analytical techniques and other duties as required by management. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines plus company policies and provide technical support across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct quality control of resins, media and materials.

• Write quality control, service and treatability reports.

• Ensure adherence to laboratory procedures and policies.

• Assist with lab and pilot plant process development, including project planning, setup, sampling, analyses, and programming pilot unit controllers.

• Design and execute experiments at bench, lab, and pilot scales.

• Utilize and optimize analytical techniques to quantify required components and develop new methodologies as needed.

• Manage laboratory purchase of inventory and supplies.

• Prepare and maintain clear and detailed documentation of test results, including electronic experimental logs and written technical reports.

• Assess problem situations, evaluate techniques and methods, and propose effective solutions.

• Perform maintenance of lab and pilot equipment, including calibrations, to ensure reliability.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

• Hazop type of planning with project engineers, manager and technicians prior to start of new project.

• Assist process applications engineering department when time permits with proposals, P&ID's and pricing of equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Chemical Engineering Background.

• Quality control experience on ion exchange resins and medias.

• Strong technical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to analyze problems, identify alternate solutions, and implement effective strategies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and team coordination.

• Laboratory and commercial scale experience with ion exchange systems. Experience with other processes such as membrane separations, evaporation, precipitation, crystallization, and settling.

• Ability to prepare technical evaluations, process schematics, mass and energy balances, and perform basic process equipment sizing.

• Proficiency in process control and analytical instrumentation.

• Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and grasping.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

• Must be able to visually observe lab tests and detect subtle color differences.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, hearing protection, etc.)

• Willingness & ability to travel up to 25% of the time, mainly international.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with a strong analytical mindset and leadership skills to drive innovation and maintain laboratory excellence.
