Servus is growing! We are currently looking for a Design Specialist in our Marketing Department.

The primary goal of the Design Specialist is to perform as part of a team to produce large volumes of work and is accountable for and dependent on effective teamwork and communications. They are accountable for creative, compliant, and timely design, formatting, production, and delivery of professional-level visual communications materials.
A key aspect of this position is accountability for brand compliant graphic design, which requires both directed and interpretive determinations of design needs, to produce final products. The Design Specialist will provide creative art direction and supervision of all internal projects involving the Servus Credit Union brand, business lines, and subsidiaries. This person will be accountable for the design and execution of all Servus Credit Union branded collateral, as well as provide leadership on multiple projects across other departments of the organization (HR, IS, etc.). They will maintain the quality and timely cost effectiveness of all projects completed through the design department.
This position works closely with all members of the marketing team including liaison with our creative partners, printers and print media. As well, to ensure that ‘end to end' design of a common message can be applied across a range of traditional and digital media, this person must also be capable of providing electronic marketing support and in-house design services.
More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Graphic Art Design
Design and production for collateral, advertising, promotion and communication requests from the Marketing department, internal clients/business lines and corporate, including:
Marketing Department:
- Community investment (calendars, external communications, signage, banners, etc.)
- Communications (annual report, newsletters, AGM support, etc.)
- Advertising (corporate campaigns, corporate communications, etc.)
- Social media content
- Sponsored events
- Direct Marketing (letters, post card, flyers, etc.)
- Collateral (product and corporate brochures, presentation folders, etc.)
- Promotional items
- Logo/Form requests
Internal Clients/Business Lines:
- Branches
- Human Resources
- Insurance Services
- Business Banking
- Wealth Services
Corporate:
- Committees – Employee Celebration, Corp Challenge, Social Club (invitations, posters, programs, t-shirt art, etc.)
- Leadership (collateral)
- Annual Report
Create materials applying Servus' brand standards to support objectives of client, i.e. sales, brand awareness, education and communication.
Participate in planning meetings to understand the business and creative objective of the project and graphic needs in support for the job including objectives, timeframe, cost, scope, etc.
Responsible for developing creative concepts. May include sketches or suggestions for layout.
Test various designs, formats, and colors for effectiveness and proof of concept.
Create and/or approve concepts, preparation of artwork for production, obtaining and evaluating quotes, liaise with internal clients and external suppliers, proofing, providing in-house production.
Should have a working knowledge of digital design and implementation.
Ensure visual identity, brand consistency, and positioning are aligned across communication pieces.
Organize, manage and maintain all marketing artwork files, current and historical.
Business Processes and Planning
A core member of the Kanban team, a cross functional group that supports the company's day-to-day marketing needs.
On this team, they will support graphic design business processes and planning, project timelines, and the system for tracking Design Requests.
Prioritize workflow of art projects based on business needs.
Lead in the development and maintenance of a corporate-wide visual brand identity standards guide.
Print and Vendor Management
Initiate and coordinate print projects with our outside vendor.
Collaborate with Procurement in the evaluation of the selected print vendor.
Work with packaging designers to develop graphics that enhance company image and work with display designers in developing attractive graphics for POP materials.
Requirements
Experience:
- At least 3 years of graphic design experience
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design
Any other special requirements necessary to do the job:
Weekend or shift work, available to travel, etc.
The business may from time to time ask for branch and/or department support for special projects and/or areas experiencing staff shortages.
