Senior Accountant

MANDATE
The Senior Accountant, as part of the Accounting and Finance Team, ensures the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of LivingWorks financial information by preparing and reviewing financial statements, payroll, and supporting compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This role supports informed decision-making by producing timely and insightful financial reports, collaborating with the Finance and Accounting Manager (A&F Manager) to improve and maintain strong financial operations.
KEY OUTCOMES
Ensure integrity and accuracy of the financial statements: Financial information is reliable and accurate due to a detailed review of transactions and balances in addition to improving and upholding internal controls.
Produce routine, timely, and insightful financial reports: Key stakeholders are consistently provided with timely, reliable, and insightful financial statements and budget reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform, support, and review the daily activities of the accounting department, including:
o Banking transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable.
o General Ledgers maintenance and reconciliation.
o Fixed asset management.
o Shipping and Inventory logistics.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and sufficiency.
Prepare and review working papers that support balances included in the financial statements.
Review payroll and ensure accurate calculations of pay, benefits and source deductions in addition to ensuring payroll compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Review weekly pay runs and ensure payments are substantiated by adequate documentation and adherence to internal processes.
In collaboration with the A&F Manager, develop and adhere to a compliance schedule and ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax in multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare organizational and departmental budgets and budget-to-actual comparisons as part of regular reporting packages.
Document existing processes and collaborate with the A&F Manager in developing process improvements and efficiencies.
Support the A&F Manager by providing relevant inputs for routine and situational financial analysis such as forecasting, monitoring KPIs, and capital budgeting.
Have an in-depth understanding of LivingWorks business and the underlying transactions we engage in, as well as an appreciation of the inter-departmental impacts of proposed changes to internal processes.
Collaborate with the A&F Manager in developing internal controls and best practices.
Support team members to ensure daily, monthly and annual outcomes are being achieved.
Research and interpret new accounting standards and compliance requirements and provide recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree in business with an accounting focus.
Maintains or is pursuing a CPA designation.
3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in both public practice and in industry.
Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and/or off-the-shelf accounting software package, QuickBooks experience considered an asset.
Not required but preferred Accounting and compliance experience with U.S. and/or international corporations.
