Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Security Operations, the Security Operations Coordinator assists with the operational and administrative functions of the Security & Parking teams to support REAL's organizational goals. This individual will help ensure that the security and parking staff deliver quality service to internal and external customers through excellence in standards, presentation and professionalism. In collaboration with internal and external partners the coordinator will support the Assistant Manager and Manager of Security Operations in the areas of day-to-day administration, parking enforcement operations and security investigations.
Utilizing various planning tools, financial forecasts, event schedules, facility knowledge and technical expertise the Security Operations Coordinator plans weeks ahead to help deliver a safe and secure environment for events and activities hosted on the REAL District.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
1. Day-to-day Administrative Support
Workforce Management Support:
- Identify, schedule, and coordinate resources to support day-to-day event requirements from an operational support perspective.
- Organize and prepare resource requirements on an as-required basis to assist with the event set up/delivery/tear down process i.e., Contractor coordination/communication, RWDSU membership coordination.
Asset Management Support:
- Providing administrative support around the use of maintenance of security technology such as surveillance systems, access control and communication tools.
- Ensuring timely reporting and documentation of all incidents in line with organization and legal requirements.
Access Control Support:
- Aid and support access control request fulfillment and administrative tracking for key/swipe card returns. Coordinate financial penalties accordingly for unreturned keys/swipe cards.
Project Management Support:
- Communicate and coordinate work as required in support of business unit management. Plans and reviews the overall status of project(s) on an ongoing basis.
2. Parking Operations Support
- Support the administration of parking citations and audit process to ensure citations are occurring in a timely manner.
- Ensure any equipment-related issues identified are reported to management promptly so that appropriate resolutions can be reached quickly.
3. Security - Monitoring/Investigations
- Support management with incident investigations where required. Prepare the critical incident report and investigation summary, where needed.
- Ensure the collection of all necessary reports and statements and maintain accurate documents on all investigations until the file is complete and the incident is closed.
4. Engagement & Collaboration
- Work closely with customer service business unit peers to help deliver memorable guest experiences while maximizing the profitability of each event.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with law enforcement, Fire and Medical agencies, etc.
- Collaborates with procurement, orders business unit-related materials, and confirms necessary work schedules to meet project timelines.
5. Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.
Regular business hours (Monday - Friday 7.5 hrs/day) However, hours may vary based on operational requirements.
Wage range: $20.80 - $30.45
Requirements
WHAT IT TAKES

Education and Experience
- Grade twelve, (12), education combined with formal training and/or work experience in related field. Post-secondary education in security management, criminal justice is an asset.
- Proficiency in accurate and efficient data entry with a strong ability to manage high volume tasks within tight deadlines.
- Minimum one year experience.
- Scheduling experience, along with strong proficiency in computer applications.
- Computer proficiency required, including advanced Excel, Word & Outlook. Previous experience with Surveillance systems and access control systems is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, emergency procedures and risk management.
- Experience working in fast-paced, complex and timeline-sensitive environments.
- Familiar with safety regulations, emergency response procedures and First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and requires hand/finger dexterity. Requires freedom of movement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Superior problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational & planning skills. Demonstrate the ability to forecast, prioritize, and schedule. multiple work plans simultaneously within demanding timeframes.
- Knowledge of general office procedures, filing systems and use of office equipment.
- Ability to design, format and/or modify documents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
- Ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.
- Strong time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results with attention to details.
- Attention to detail and the ability to independently exercise good judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, parking bylaws and liquor compliance regulations, an asset.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
