Reporting to the Manager, Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales the Account Executive, Business, Trade and Consumer Events is responsible to generate revenue for Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL)by planning, leading and implementing all sales aspects of corporate/social events and trade/consumer shows. The Account Executive will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the current level of event space and catering rentals throughout the various properties of REAL. New business development is a priority. Responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing memorable events that exceed quality expectations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a member of REAL's Management team, the Account Executive, Business Trade and Consumer Events participates in the development of business plans in conjunction with the Manager, Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales to achieve the corporation's short and long-term goals by:
- Contributing to the development, implementation, and continued monitoring of department benchmarks and standards, as well as internal customer service benchmarks and standards.
- Ensuring that department policies and procedures are always followed and adhered to constructively providing feedback and correcting performance to ensure compliance; recommends policy and procedural revisions.
- Assisting in developing and implementing workplace safety plans and training designed to identify and mitigate facility safety hazards, and ensures that they are corrected in a timely manner.
Directs, implements and evaluates Event Sales services to support corporate and social events and trade shows by:
- Working collaboratively with the Manager, Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales to establish the business unit's strategic plan, revenue goals, key prospects, target account and performance metrics.
- Plan and develop REAL run Trade and Consumer shows from conception, contract development, planning, managing and delivering to optimize rentable space.
- Bringing forward event hosting opportunities to REAL on a corporate level for dialogue and decision.
- Participating in weekly meetings to make key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, customer service, employee relations, operating models and operational execution.
- Exhibiting behaviours and actions that contribute to building a constructive culture within REAL, modelling teamwork, initiative, focus, discipline and persistence required to advance growth and REAL objectives.
- Ensuring events run smoothly for clients and deals with any problems that may occur.
Ensures effective business unit financial planning by:
- Contributing to the development of the department's annual budget (capital and financial), may be responsible for monitoring appropriate expenditure controls to manage costs for particular line items.
- Contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual business unit financial statements as needed.
- Periodically reviewing invoicing to ensure all inputs are reported and invoice is submitted in a timely manner to the client. Ensuring outstanding receivables are followed up on once advised by Finance of any delinquency.
Leads and develops strong teams to carry out business unit strategies by:
- Providing support to fellow team members and/or direct reports via training, coaching, guidance, and direction.
- Monitoring staff engagement levels and ensuring ongoing improvement to facilitate productivity, retention and high morale; identify potential gaps in talent in the business unit and initiate short/long term strategies to ensure ongoing qualified personnel are being recruited and developed for sustainable corporate growth.
Other duties as required.
Permanent Full Time Position.
Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Requirements

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Event Management, Commerce or related field or a combination or related education, training and experience is required.
- Certifications in sales training courses is an asset.
- Three (3) to five (5) years' demonstrated experience in the sales and sponsorships and/or advertising with a proven record of accomplishment in meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Proven track record of developing and building new business relationships that produce profitable financial results.
- Experience developing budgets, forecasting, and writing sales proposals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
- Knowledge of marketing and communications principles.
