ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Founded in 2001, IsraAID is a non-denominational, international, non-governmental, humanitarian aid organization based in Israel. Since its inception, IsraAIDs teams have been at the forefront of emergency response and long-term development in more than 60 countries around the world. Rapidly growing, with an annual operating budget of close to US$30 million and 400 staff, IsraAID responds to humanitarian crises, and helps people affected re-build their lives, their communities and their futures, together. From hurricanes to refugee crises to global pandemics, IsraAID mobilizes quickly and collaborates with communities at the deepest level, staying for as long as it takes.

Sectors of expertise include:

Protection ensuring that individual and community rights, safety and wellbeing are protected both during an emergency and in the months and years that follow.

Education securing childrens access to quality education and related services including protection and disaster risk reduction both during and after emergencies to enable social mobility and advance future livelihoods.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene providing sustainable solutions and emergency access to safe water, adequate hygiene and reliable sanitation.

Health and Medical Care deploying medical teams and public health experts to strengthen public health infrastructure and improve equity in access to and awareness of these healthcare services.

ABOUT ISRAAID CANADA

IsraAID Canadais a registered charity that works with IsraAIDs global organizations to provide critical aid to victims of disasters, deliver medical and health care support to communities that have been affected by crisis, facilitate access to education and psychosocial support for vulnerable children in these communities, and engage Canadian individuals, communities, organizations and institutional/government bodies with IsraAIDs emergency response and long-term international development work around the world.

THE POSITION

IsraAID Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a vision-driven, results-focused, independent, strategic leader with strong major gifts, corporate and institutional solicitation and stewardship, organizational visibility, and general fundraising skills, to establish Canadian operations as founding Executive Director. Working with prominent philanthropists who are significant donors and the founding Board Members for IsraAID Canada, the Executive Director will be responsible for launching, developing, and implementing IsraAID Canadas fundraising strategy agenda, including soliciting and stewarding a major donor portfolio.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who will work in very close concert with IsraAIDs global headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel and someone with experience or a deep interest in the field of Humanitarian Aid and International Development. Ability to travel to visit IsraAIDs Humanitarian Missions around the world to understand and learn about the organizations work and approach is a prerequisite for this role.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experiences:

  • 10-15 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, mostly within Canada.
  • Proven track record in major gift solicitation (five and six-figure) and experience working with high level volunteers and philanthropists.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in fundraising, including prospect and donor research, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Experience with start-up organizations is preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to present to and communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of working in diverse cultural contexts.
  • Experience with Salesforce (or similar CRM fundraising database) is preferred.
  • Knowledge or understanding of working with Israel/international-based organizations is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently within Canada and to visits to IsraAIDs Humanitarian Missions worldwide.
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in staff recruitment, development, motivation, supervision, and management.
  • Experience in the Humanitarian Aid, International Development, or Human Rights field is preferred.
  • Adherence to strict ethical standards and compliance with IsraAID's policies.

LOCATION: Toronto, ON. With frequent domestic and international travel.

COMPENSATION: IsraAID Canada will offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience in the range of $180,000 230,000 CDN.
