Job Overview
We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Web Designer to join our team on a contract basis to assist with a critical website migration project. You will be key in transferring our existing website content and functionality to a new WordPress platform, primarily using the Divi theme builder. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a large-scale website migration and contribute to a project that will directly impact our online presence. While most of the work will be within Divi, a foundational understanding of HTML and CSS is vital for troubleshooting and occasional custom modifications.
Role:
- Assist in migrating website content, including text, images, and other media, from the existing platforms to WordPress.
- Ensure accurate and efficient transfer of website structure and functionality.
- Utilize the Divi theme builder to recreate and customize website layouts, modules, and styling to match project requirements and design specifications.
- Implement responsive design principles to ensure the website is accessible and user-friendly across all devices (desktops, tablets, mobile phones).
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues during the migration process, leveraging Divi's features and, when necessary, basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
- Collaborate with the digital marketing team to ensure a smooth and successful migration.
- Test the migrated websites thoroughly for functionality, design consistency, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of the migration process.
- Adhere to project timelines and deliverables.
- Understand when and how to implement custom HTML/CSS code within the Divi environment if standard Divi modules/options are insufficient.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrable experience with WordPress, specifically with the Divi theme builder.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. You should understand and make minor modifications to existing code and understand how Divi interacts with these languages.
- Understanding web design principles, including layout, typography, and user experience (UX).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
Optional Skills:
- Experience with website migration processes.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices.
- Experience with website accessibility standards (AODA).
- Basic JavaScript knowledge.
This is a contract opportunity for 12 months with flexibility to work remote. You are required to visit the head office in Stoney Creek weekly.
