We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accounting Assistant to join our client's dynamic team. This role offers transitioning to full-time position by the end of the year for the right candidate. You will report directly to the Group Controller in the Netherlands and collaborate closely with the Canadian leadership team.
Compensation:
• Pay Rate: $24.00 to $26.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Work Schedule:
• Hours: 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Timeframe: Flexible scheduling between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM
• Note: Weekly consistent hours and days are required
• Commitment: This role requires future availability to work an increased schedule as the needs of the business grow. Anticipated to be full-time before year's end.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting (70% of Role):
• Manage and process purchase and sales invoices efficiently.
• Oversee accounts receivable and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Process bank statements and ensure timely approvals and payments of invoices.
• Calculate, report, and remit GST, HST, and excise tax.
• Assist with monthly financial close and account reconciliations.
• Process bi-monthly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial processes.
• Research suppliers and negotiate favorable terms for goods and services.
• Obtain quotes and maintain vendor relationships.
• Track inventory levels and submit purchase orders as necessary.• Procurement (30% of Role) (Temporary, until full-time transition):
Qualifications:
• Education: Post-secondary education in accounting; CPA designation or progress towards CPA is a plus.
• Experience: 5+ years in financial accounting, with experience in excise tax calculations and reporting.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Elvy preferred; Oracle, SAP, or SAGE experience accepted) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Personal Attributes: Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Work Style: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively solve problems with a focus on process improvement.
