Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Network Site engineer to manage and maintain the network infrastructure and associated equipment on our large-scale tunnel construction project. The ideal candidate will have experience with Fortinet and Ubiquiti network equipment, and possess the physical capability to work in challenging environments such as mud, dust, and wet conditions. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of various critical systems, including CCTV, access control, LTE/Wi-Fi Radio underground networks, and UHF radios. The role will require frequent travel to all sites. This position may involve on-call duties and requires effective communication with both technical staff and construction teams. The position is office-based and does not offer remote work options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fortinet Equipment Management: Oversee, configure, and maintain Fortinet networking equipment to ensure a secure and reliable network infrastructure across the project.
- Ubiquiti Equipment Management: Manage Ubiquiti network equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the network.
- Meraki Experience (Optional): While not required, familiarity with Meraki equipment will be considered a plus.
- CCTV Network Management: Administer and monitor the CCTV system, ensuring all cameras and networked devices are functioning properly.
- Access Control System Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of access control systems, ensuring proper access and security across the construction site.
- LTE / Wi-Fi Radio Network Management: Manage underground LTE and Wi-Fi radio networks, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity in challenging environments.
- UHF Radio Management: Administer and maintain UHF radio communications, ensuring reliable communication across the project site.
- Physical Work Environment: The role requires working in physically demanding conditions, including mud, dust, wet, and potentially hazardous environments.
- Tool and Equipment Handling: You will be required to carry a backpack with tools and computer equipment, which may be heavy at times.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with staff, contractors, and the project team to ensure smooth operation and resolve any issues promptly.
- On-Call Support: Be available for on-call support, addressing any urgent network issues that may arise outside of normal working hours.
- Proven experience with Fortinet and Ubiquiti networking equipment.
- Meraki experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with CCTV, access control systems, LTE/Wi-Fi radio networks, and UHF radios.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including carrying equipment and tools, and operating in construction zones.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with team members, contractors, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
- Willingness to be on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE) are a plus.
- Experience working in large-scale construction or industrial environments is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15kg and a backpack around 10kg.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions (e.g., wet, muddy, dusty environments outdoor).
- Comfortable working in small spaces or underground areas and working at height is required.
- This role is 100% on site.
