As the Controller: You will lead a small team and oversee our accounting operations! This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards (CAN & US), and effective internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, strong emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of accounting principles to drive efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Compensation: $115k - $120k annually
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of four accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the full-cycle accounting process, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Monitor and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to support audits and tax filings.
  • Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices, ensuring the company remains in compliance.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficiencies in accounting workflows.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (full cycle accounting), including supervisory or managerial roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Prior experience with US and Canadian reporting requirements.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in Excel required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and developing teams.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
