Enhancement Crew Leader – Job Description

Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Various project sites
Job Type: Full-time (Spring–Fall with Winter duties)

Why Join CSL Group?

At CSL, we're more than just a landscaping company—we're a family. We take pride in our work, care about our people, and live our SHARING values every day: Safety, Humility, Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Nurturing, and Growth. If you're looking for a workplace where your skills are valued, your ideas matter, and your growth is supported, you'll feel right at home here.

We're growing fast and looking for passionate people who want to grow with us. If you love working outdoors, leading a team, and seeing your work bloom—literally—let's talk.

The Role:

As an Enhancement Crew Leader, you'll be the on-site captain of our landscaping enhancement projects. Your main mission? Bringing outdoor spaces to life with vibrant flower beds, healthy trees, and perfectly placed mulch. From day-to-day planning and coordination to getting your hands dirty alongside your crew, this role is all about balance—between leadership and labor, design and execution, and big-picture thinking with on-the-ground action.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leading and motivating your enhancement crew with positive energy and clear direction.

  • Overseeing large-scale planting projects—think trees, shrubs, flowers, and all the mulch your heart desires.

  • Creating stunning flower beds and garden layouts based on designs and client visions.

  • Operating equipment like mini excavators, skid steers, and front-end loaders like a pro.

  • Coordinating materials, equipment, and schedules to keep projects running smoothly and on time.

  • Ensuring work is completed safely, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Managing site documentation (Toolbox Talks, JSA's, etc.) through Aspire and SiteDocs platforms.

  • Keeping an eye out for potential safety concerns and addressing them before they become issues.

  • Collaborating with the Branch Manager to share updates, solve problems, and plan ahead.

  • Taking ownership of site cleanliness, aesthetics, and crew morale—because happy crews build beautiful spaces.

  • Assisting with staff training and onboarding (you're kind of a big deal around here).

  • Transitioning into winter operations when the seasons change—because landscapes don't stop when the snow falls.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • 2–3 years of hands-on landscaping or property maintenance experience.

  • At least 1 year of experience leading a team of 4–5 people—your crew looks to you for guidance.

  • Strong planting knowledge and a passion for enhancing outdoor spaces with trees, mulch, and flowers.

  • A valid driver's license and clean abstract (bonus points if you like road trips to nurseries).

  • Confidence in operating heavy equipment and reading site plans.

  • Excellent communication skills—you keep your team and clients in the loop.

  • A positive attitude, even when the weather's not cooperating.

  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

What to Expect:
  • Work outdoors in all kinds of weather (sun, rain, even a surprise snowflake or two).

  • Physical work—lifting up to 70 lbs, bending, digging, planting, and more.

  • Occasional overtime and 24/7 availability during peak seasons.

  • Travel to job sites across the region.

  • Wearing proper PPE and being safety-conscious always.
