Introduction:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Operations, the DevOps System Administrator is responsible for creating and maintaining software solutions that align with the organizations requirements. In addition to automating and integrating development and operations processes to boost efficiency and collaboration, this role also supports the broader IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:

  1. Plan, design, and develop software applications to meet business requirements and goals with the use of but not limited to Power Platform, SharePoint;
  2. Maintain and manage DevOps infrastructure in a production environment to ensure high availability and reliability;
  3. Scripting and automation of administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting/programming languages;
  4. Facilitating application deployments and continuous integration deployment pipelines;
  5. Provide application support, investigate application defects in production, identify the root cause of the issue, develop, and implement solutions in a timely manner;
  6. Provide technical support to on-prem and Azure IT infrastructure and systems;
  7. Perform day to day operational activities, including server building and administration, system patching and upgrade, backup and recovery, and data center management;
  8. Proactively monitor system logs and performance, respond to issues, troubleshoot and identify root causes, develop and implement technical resolutions hosted on data center/Azure Cloud;
  9. Work in collaboration with other internal teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure the development and implementation of applications is successful and meets business needs;
  10. Enhance in-house applications/jobs with the help of third-party API's;
  11. Lead the design and development of specifications and perform code reviews. Test, debug, document, and manage changes to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of programs;
  12. Prioritize and deliver multi-streams, fast paced integrated services with enhancement to existing and new applications;
  13. Assist the Cyber Security team in determining risks in the environment, available technical solutions to remedy these risks;
  14. Ensure creation and maintenance of documentation for technical procedures, policies, and standard processes related to on-prem/cloud infrastructure;
  15. Flexible in availability with regards to working hours and days scheduled required;
  16. Upgrade knowledge of emerging technologies by reading professional publications and participating in educational and training opportunities;
  17. Other duties as may be assigned within the scope of this position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • University Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent;
  • IT industry certification required such as Microsoft 365 certified, MCSE, MCSA, Azure administration, ITIL;
  • Four (4) years in Content Management Systems, web-based, Microsoft Power Platform and O365 Development;
  • Four (4) years progressive system administration experience in Windows, hypervisor environment;
  • Strong working experience with Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019, Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft 365, Citrix, NetApp, UCS, VMware, and Windows 7/8/10/11 desktop administration;
  • Experienced with SharePoint, SQL Server, SCCM, SAN, NAS and Blade infrastructure, OpenStack, backup system, monitoring system and LAN/WAN network;
  • Experienced with DevOps pipeline and optimizing code;
  • Knowledge of Ruby and/or Python;
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment;
  • Web Development experience of using PHP, WordPress and modern JS frameworks;
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Cybersecurity;
  • Knowledge or Architectural patterns;
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC);
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
  • Working experience with design, design patters, software design and programming techniques;
  • Strong communication and customer service skills;
  • Previous experience with healthcare information system is an asset.

This is a full-time opportunity at ICES Central. Successful candidate must reside within Ontario while working remotely and able to come into the office if required from time to time. There may be instances where in-person meetings are requested; however, ICES continues to support Flexible remote work arrangements anywhere in Ontario.

Security clearance may be required.
