The Position

Lift is seeking a Homelessness Outreach Lead to support a team that will provide support and assistance to people experiencing homelessness across qathet. Working from a harm reduction perspective, the Homelessness Outreach Lead assists people who are experiencing homelessness by ensuring safer substance use strategies, food, sanitation and social supports are in place. Many of these community members cope with mental health issues and/or substance use issues and may or may not be accessing social supports.
The Homelessness Outreach Lead will work in conjunction with the Lift team, VCH outreach teams and/or community colleagues to engage vulnerable individuals and assist them in accessing health, housing, social services, and shelter as available. The Homeless Outreach Lead will actively participate in building a skilled, cohesive, collaborative support team, including demonstrated commitment to Lift principles and resolving conflict with clients, community partners and others as needed.

  • Hours: 35 hours per week (9am - 4:30pm)
  • Hourly Wage: $27.15 per hour
  • Job Type: Temporary until October 2, 2025
  • Reports to: Housing Services Manager
  • Start Date: ASAP

Qualifications and Lived Experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Problem-Solving and Conflict-Resolution skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), EMRs, or similar programs.
- Familiar with local community resources
- Basic understanding of street culture

- Ethically aligned with Harm-Reduction practices

- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, medications, treatment and support resources

- Demonstrates excellent communication and active listening skills

- Demonstrates concise and ethical documenting skills

- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain client confidentiality

- Demonstrates professional boundaries
- Ability to remain calm and responsive during crisis incident response
- Awareness of culturally safety
- Reliable transportation and a valid Drivers License
