Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that products meet the required standards of quality and compliance. This role involves inspection products at various stages of the manufacturing process, identifying any defects or deviations from quality standards, and documenting findings for further analysis and corrective actions. This role is also responsible for day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring that our products meet the necessary quality standards by the testing of materials, finished goods, and sampling. This role is also responsible for maintaining accurate records of all testing results and communication of any quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Conduct visual and functional inspections of products at various stages of the production process, which includes in-process, finished product, and pre-shipment inspections
  • Document and report any deviations or non-conformities to the appropriate personnel
  • Participate in audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations
  • Use measuring tools and SOPs to verify product dimensions, tolerances, and other quality requirements which includes packaging material (bottles, caps, seals, boxes, pumps, etc.)
  • Collect samples of crude or blended oil for testing purposes from designated warehouses.
  • Perform spot checks and sampling of products to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality issues alongside manufacturing team to recommend solutions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Assist with development and implementation of quality control procedures, and ensure compliance with established protocols, documentation standards, and procedural requirements throughout the production process
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality system
  • Communicate quality issues and concerns with production personnel and management as required
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, swabbing activities, and implement release criteria on the production line. This includes to monitor and record temperature, humidity, and scales on a daily basis to maintain optimal production conditions
  • Perform oil properties tests, including viscosity and water activity, utilizing chemical and microbiological equipment. This includes sample preparation for biological and chemical analyses
  • Determine appropriate testing protocols based on customer specifications and the characteristics of the oil or seeds
  • Coordinate the dispatch of samples to third-party laboratories for further analysis.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of completed tests and any results falling outside of predetermined parameters
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to document test outcomes and for product release.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and protocols
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite of programs
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; diploma or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality control role, preferably related to production or manufacturing
