Location: North Shore / Robinson Huron Treaty Territory
Hours of Work: Standard Days; 37.5 hours/ wk
Annual Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

Niigaaniin is looking for a Financial Specialist to support our teams in Ontario Works (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)! PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Financial Manager and or designate, the Financial Specialist performs a wide variety of duties to support the financial components of both Niigaaniin Services Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program.
The Financial Specialist works within Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program by utilizing the Niigaaniin software of GIIN and the Provincial Software SAMS.
The Financial Specialist will also act as a backup to the Niigaaniin Specialist when required for the purposes of OW.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- It is preferred for the applicant to be a registered band member of the First Nations serviced by Niigaaniin Services, including Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, and Wahnapitae First Nation,
- Will have a college diploma and/or a university degree in social work, OR a minimum of five years work experience in social assistance.
- Superior oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment,
- Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and internet and other computer applications as applicable,
- Must have a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Peoples Sector Check applicable to the responsibilities of this position, and
- Drivers license and access to a vehicle would be considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of Anishnaabemowin, culture and traditions of Indigenous people of the Robinson Huron Waawiindamaagewin,
- Knowledge of ODSP legislation, regulations, policy, procedures and funding arrangements would be an asset,
- Knowledge of barriers faced by people with disabilities,
- Knowledge of community resources and services available to assist community members with disabilities with emergencies, supports and employment opportunities,
- Familiar with community services, networks and knowledge the Niigaaniin Services would be an asset,
- Ability to work in a performance-based system with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes is essential,
- Ability to provide excellent customer / community services to community members accessing services,
- Ability to resolve conflict using problem solving and supportive approaches,
- Interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse populations as well as coworkers,
- Communication skills to effectively case manage, both online and in person,
- Time management skills to ensure tasks, cases are up to date,
- Ability to learn new skills and softwares,
- Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues and the communities,
- All candidates must be able to work with a diverse population, and
- Effective listening skills to determine community members needs and make appropriate referrals.
