We are currently looking for an Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team
Day Shift - 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Position Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Electrician is responsible for the mechanical set-up, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of facility electrical distribution systems and equipment in an industrial setting. The successful candidate will help ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment, including but not limited to spiral ovens, freezers, formers, carton machines, tray packers, breading, and battering equipment
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs, and support system improvements to ensure product quality and operational efficiency
- Communicate equipment breakdowns and estimated repair times to relevant Production and Quality Assurance personnel
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings; produce rough sketches using appropriate symbols and tolerances
- Test, repair, and calibrate electric or electronic components
- Install new machinery and relocate existing equipment as needed
- Participate in ongoing cross-training and multi-skilling initiatives; assist in training maintenance team members on electrical systems
- Recommend and implement corrective actions and necessary repairs for electrical equipment
- Collaborate with operators and other teams across the site to minimize downtime and reduce safety and quality risks
- Communicate effectively during shift handovers, production meetings, and work order coordination
- Comply with all equipment and chemical regulations in a food manufacturing environment
- Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, Health & Safety standards, WHMIS, and local electrical codes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification (442A)
- 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse setting
- Knowledge of conveyors, high-speed slicers, pumps, compressors, electrical/electronic controls, and packaging equipment
- Commitment to continuous improvement and equipment optimization
- Solid understanding of HMIs, motor controls, PLCs, wiring circuits, and safe testing/repair procedures
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production demands
- Ability to plan and organize daily tasks independently
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, and relevant environmental regulations
