Role Summary:
This Senior Project Accountant role carries out various accounting functions for the projects they are responsible for; and provides guidance to the other Project Accountants. This role works with the Senior Manager, Project Accounting and the rest of the Rize team to ensure best in class financial controls and accurate reporting and forecasting for the organization.
Please note that this role is an 18 months contract position, with the potential to turn permanent.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly bank loan draws and liaising with the Quantity Surveyor
- Prepare internal and external reporting packages (Financial Statements, Job Cost Reports, Partner Reports etc.), and working with other departments to gather information
- Full-cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
- Record journal entries and preparing monthly financial statements for project entities
- Maintain project proformas and ensuring actual cost is updated on a monthly basis
- Review and approve payables, and work closely with Accounts Payable in getting payment ready in a timely manner
- Process Contracts, Purchase Orders, and Change Orders in Sage 300;
- Monitor and maintain project cashflow from pre-development to completion
- Prepare and filing government information returns;
- Review annual tax filings for project entities;
- Coaches, mentors and provides guidance to the Project Accounting Team to ensure policies and procedures are implemented properly, and a consistent standard of work;
- Assisting Senior Manager, Project Accounting with any ad-hoc tacks and improving internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of project accounting experience at a Senior level
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting is required
- Adequate experience with Sage 300 Construction is preferred
- CPA designation or current enrolment in the program is preferred
- Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with confidential material and maintain high standards of ethical conduct.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary range - $85,000 - $95,000 based on experience + Discretionary Bonus
- Benefits upon completion of probationary period
