The Role

Button has had the pleasure of working with this client and project for several years, and were excited to expand the team for an upcoming sprint that starts ASAP and ends May 31, 2025.

Were looking for a DevOps Expert who can jump in across the stack as needed to be embedded with the client and collaborating with our technical team of other Buttoners.

Youll have a senior level understanding of DevOps Systems and have experience being a trusted technical advisor, helping to find the most effective technical solution while being able to effectively communicate your recommendations.

Youll also have solid grasp of core Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including scalability, reliability, and automation.

Given the short nature of this project you will need to be able to jump in, get up to speed independently and deliver at pace to ensure milestones are met.

The project is a digital platform designed to help companies meet regulatory requirements related to industrial environmental reporting. This web-based application will allow users to submit data and receive compliance reports. Additionally, the platform will include tools for tracking payments to ensure transparency and accountability.

This is a dynamic, cross-functional role where youll work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Proven experience in Agile environments with iterative development is required.


Technical Skills & Experience

5-7 years as a DevOps Expert with strong experience with DevOps practices, with a focus on defining, tracking, and improving operational metrics such as availability, latency, and performance.

Experience specifically in

  • OpenShift4
  • Github Actions
  • PythonTypescript

Infrastructure, Cloud & Deployment:

  • Data warehousing/storage solutions, Cloud Native frameworks, and Kubernetes
  • Container registries (e.g., GitHub Container Registry) and versioning tools (e.g., Git)
  • CI/CD frameworks and deployment automation (e.g., ArgoCD, 12factor.net practices)

Monitoring, Metrics & Security:

  • Application and operational metrics (availability, latency, performance)
  • Monitoring, scaling, and quality tools (e.g., SonarCloud, Snyk)

Development & Technologies:

  • Senior-level knowledge of Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL
  • Mapping technologies (e.g., ArcGIS, Leaflet) and DAGs (Directed Acyclical Graphs)

Collaboration & Best Practices:

  • Test automation and fostering team-wide adoption of best development practices
  • Iterative development with a strong user experience focus and knowledge sharing

We encourage people to apply with a variety of backgrounds. For example, experience similar to building payment processing platforms, fin-tech/banking platforms, accounting software, fleet management or workforce management type platforms could be most relevant to this role.

Candidates with experience working in government or on government or public sector projects are highly desired for this role.
