As we grow, we are looking for a part-time Junior Accounting Assistant to help facilitate certain accounting duties.
Job Summary
Ferguson Moving and Storage is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time Junior Accounting Assistant to support our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), aging collections, storage container booking and billing, and calculating job profitability. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in accounting within the moving industry.
Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Maintain accurate records of transactions and backup
- Track overdue invoices and communicate with customers to ensure timely payments
- Work with internal sales teams to resolve any billing disputes
- Maintain detailed records of collection efforts and payment agreements.
Storage Container Booking & Billing:
- Manage billing of storage containers for customers
- Ensure all charges are correctly applied and documented
- Coordinate with operations to verify container storage outstanding payments
Job Profitability Calculation:
- Analyze expenses associated with each moving job
- Assist in calculating job profitability
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree (or currently pursuing) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in AP, AR, and collections is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Hubdocs).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and customers.
