In 1949 they acquired the four-year-old Vancouver branch of an American-based company. From this modest beginning, the Company now has a Head Office in Burnaby, Eighteen Branches, and Four Distribution Centers spread across Western Canada. The Opportunity:
Scope of the Position
Reporting to the Manager of FP&A, Assistant Manager, FP&A role calls for a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and ability to work collaboratively across departments. The position will be responsible for various finance areas such as planning, controlling, forecasting, reporting, and measuring accounting data, financial information, assets, and cash flow of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs complex financial analysis including financial results variance against budget and forecasts, market analysis, and benchmarking.
- Assists in the annual budget process, including quarterly forecast and variance analysis.
- Leads the development or enhancement of financial models to support consolidation, financial analysis and reports, as necessary.
- Leads the regular reporting requirements by ensuring the accuracy of quarterly covenant reports, and monthly management reports for operation/department leads.
- Plays a key role in implementing KPI dashboards utilizing various tools while continually developing further metrics.
- Maintains long-term financial forecast models and performs the analyses to support strategic decision-making as the company grows.
- Prepare regular weekly cash flow forecasts and analysis.
- Support the management of cash flow optimization, including foreign exchange hedging and short-term investment programs, and other treasury related functions.
- Support M&A activities including valuation, due diligence, financial modeling and analysis.
- Works closely with the Manager of FP&A on driving continuous process improvement and automation to provide value-added service to business stakeholders.
- Assists the Finance team, in the annual audit process for all relevant related entities, including tax and Future Income Tax (FIT) calculations.
- Performs special projects and ad hoc duties as required, including training junior finance staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA), CFA or MBA completion.
- 7+ years of financial planning and analysis experience or related role.
- Treasury experience is an asset.
- Experienced with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Experienced with Microsoft 365 including advanced Excel and modeling experience.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools an asset (i.e., SQL, Power BI, Phocas).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated individual with a high degree of initiative.
- A team player, able to communicate effectively and build tactful relationship with other departments within the organization.
- A self-starter, flexible, with the ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
What we offer:
The target salary range for this position is $105,000 - $125,000 CAD per annum. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only. The salary will depend on internal pay equity and the candidate's relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and job market data.
