The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years.CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Manager, the driver will be responsible to transport food safely and efficiently between the two locations. The driver will ensure timely deliveries, follow appropriate safety and sanitation standards. This position is crucial in maintaining the quality and freshness of food during the transit.
This position reports to: Program Manager
Employment status: 12 Months contract with a possibility of extension

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely transport food from both Transitional Housing Locations in St Joseph & Queen Street as per the schedule
- Load and unload food items while ensuring that all the packages are handled with care to maintain quality.
- Maintain proper temperature controls during the transit to ensure food safety.
- Follow designated routes and timelines to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate with the manager regarding route updates or challenges.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the delivery vehicle, including performing regular checks on fuel and vehicle conditions
- Comply with all traffic laws, safety regulations and company policies during the deliveries.
- Assist with other operational duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid G license with a drivers abstract is required
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably in the food or hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of local routes and the ability to navigate effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to lift and move heavy items
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to manage deliveries in a timely manner
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in verbal and written English is essential. Fluency in other languages an asset.
