Position: Junior Accountant
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Hiring Level: Experienced

Contract Type: Permanent with 3-month probation

Current Location:5 East 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1R6 (fully on-site)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve employee reimbursement requests through the companys Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) on a daily basis.
  • Perform full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly project cost reports for three ongoing R&D projects, subject to review by the General Manager before submission to the HQ finance team.
  • Convert financial reports generated by Sage 50 into the standardized group Excel format and upload them to the companys Chinese financial system.
  • Manage approval processes for GST, WCB, T4 filings, contract signings, and other compliance-related submissions through the EIP.
  • Ensure timely filing of GST (monthly), Employer Health Tax (EHT) & WCB (quarterly and annual), and other statutory reporting.
  • Support year-end closing activities and assist with external audits as required.
  • Prepare and file T4 & T4A slips in compliance with CRA regulations by February 28 each year.
  • Compile supporting documentation for Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims, BC Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit (BCIDMTC), corporate tax filings (T2), and transfer pricing reports.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial planning.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of accounting experience (preferred).

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Canadian Accounting Standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance (e.g., GST, payroll, corporate tax).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage 50.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
