League Coordinator Indigenous Rookie League VACANT POSITIONS
Two Positions Available (East End & West End)
Contract: May 26 August 15, 2025 (35 Hours Per Week)
Rate: $20.00/hour

Who we are? We are a leader in First Nation Health. Our foundation is Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services and health promotion services. We have recently been approved as the first Indigenous led Ontario Health Team by the Ministry of Health.
The opportunity: Maamwesying is currently seeking two League Coordinators. The League Coordinators will oversee the Jays Care Foundation Rookie League in our partner sites along the North Shore. The program will run from June to August and includes baseball/softball practices and games. Each Coordinator will oversee four participating communities. This unique baseball or softball program is community based designed to bring families and community members together to connect and have fun. The program will help enhance the life skills and physical health of our children and youth while providing them with opportunities to thrive and succeed. We require enthusiastic, motivated, flexible individuals with exceptional teamwork and organizational skills. These positions will report directly to the Aanjiichigewin Health Promotors at Maamwesying.
What you need to bring with you:
Experience working with and in our First Nation communities an asset
Excellent computer skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organized with strong time management skills
Knowledge of baseball/softball an asset
knowledge of the Anishinaabe traditions or language an asset
Experience in physical education/recreation or equivalent combination of experience in an asset
Must have a valid drivers license
Must be willing to travel when required
A clean Vulnerable Sector Report
Job Requirements:
Research, planning, development, implementation of the Rookie League
Raise awareness of the program, recruit coaches, and recruit players in each participating First Nation
Organize the practice and game play schedule and the system for teams
Assist Jays Care with coaches training and community visits (May June 2025)
Provide programming and support to participating First Nations
Manage league logistics daily (oversee transportation & food allowances to each community, etc.)
Liaising regularly with Jays Care to plan trainings, tournaments, and special events
Completing the end-of-program report
Plan and coordinate final tournament for all teams (food, diamonds, transportation, trophies, volunteers)
Distributing uniforms, equipment, and other materials as needed
Be available for assisting with any issues that may occur during this program with communities/teams
Be in constant contact with coaches and community members about the program
Develop a volunteer strategy
Office setting provided
