People & Culture Generalist: Your journey begins here! Our fast-growing Aeromedical company needs a strong P&C Generalist to support our Director of People & Culture and work closely with Payroll/HR Specialist. This position will be full-time and located on site at Hamilton International Airport located in Mount Hope, ON. Key Responsibilities:

Policy and Legislative Compliance (Federal)

Oversee and manage day-to-day HR operations with a focus on Federal employment laws, ensuring compliance across the organization

Stays up to date on changes with the Federal Labour Program and ensures compliance with the Canada Labour Code, Accessible Canada Act, Canada Human Rights and other relevant legislations.

Draft policies for review by the Director/Executive Team; continually update employee manuals accordingly and re-issue periodically as needed

Monitors legislative changes and ensures the organizations compliance with federal employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Handles all matters regarding the Federal Labour Program and ensures compliance with the Canada Labour Code, escalating to the Director as needed.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

Updates Workplace Compliance Postings annually or as needed.

Consults with the Director to ensure that policies and employment actions comply with applicable federal legislations.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Orientation

Identifies staffing and recruitment needs; develops and executes best practices in terms of recruitment strategy developed with the Director.

Implement solutions to ensure we have the right people, in the right roles, at the right time, for our business needs.

Facilitate and administer a full cycle recruitment process including updating of job descriptions, posting of advertisements, pre-screening of resumes, interviewing, completing reference checks, negotiating of offers and administration of employment agreements and issuing of onboarding packages.

Prepare, administer, and follow up on all onboarding and documentation for new hires.

Leads recruitment including proactive candidate sourcing and building candidate pipelines:

o Proactively source candidates for specialized roles on LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.

o Partner with High School, College and Universities to leverage co-op, apprenticeship and new grad opportunities to build a talent pipeline for all departments.

o Partner with other Employment Services to provide possible opportunities for local candidates with Special Needs/Disabilities

Assist the Director with the design, development and delivery of company Orientation programs

Occupational Health & Safety

Acts as the employee co-chair and certified worker representative on the Workplace Health & Safety Committee; prepare meeting agendas and post minutes; oversee First Aid Program & Workplace Inspection Programs; Oversee Workplace H&S Investigations and associated injury reporting.

Ensures compliance with Federal annual reporting obligations and the Canada Labour Code including EAHOR/EAHVOR/Annual Committee Reporting, etc. with the Federal Labour Program and Transport Canada

Collaboratively create, revise health & safety policy and procedures with the WHSC and leadership; maintain the Health & Safety Manual for the organization.

Provides and maintains accurate statistical data, reports, and analysis of injury trends to operations in support of organizational accident reduction goals.

Responsible for driving success in accident prevention through implementation of Company programs to promote and improve Health, Safety and Wellness.

Provides expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards and related compliance at the site.

Communications, Social Events and Systems Administration

Send reoccurring announcements/communications to employees about benefits programs and company offerings, contests, social events/calendar, reminder of Stat Holidays, Corporate Give Back Program, EFAP, Perkopolis Perks, etc.

Plan monthly team lunches; send out lunch surveys and event reminders, order and pick up food and supplies, co-ordinate with department volunteers each month for assistance with set-up and clean-up pre and post events.

Facilitate the organization of off-site opt-in social events to promote cross functional team interaction and culture development.

Maintains HR records and runs reports (current and historical data) within the HRIS (BambooHR) and LMS (Absorb)

Maintains accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records and documentation including HR information and related records systems in compliance with all applicable legislation with our HRIS, BambooHR.

Absorb LMS Administrator; issues and tracks all mandatory employee compliance training for completion, runs periodic reports for analysis by the Director.

WSIB & Return to Work Program

Reviews all accident investigation reports to ensure appropriate internal and external reporting is completed and followed up within timeframes and participate in investigations where required; follows up on and documents any incident, injury or near miss reported by employees.

Manage any WSIB claims and return to work activities associated with a claim, including offers of modified duties to reduce Lost Time claims.

Support the management of illness or disability of employees related to either an occupational or a non-occupational absence and supporting the business with the development of RTW plans, accommodation, and injury/illness reporting.

Manages all other communications with the WSIB and matters regarding WSIB compliance.

WSIB & Return to Work Program - Manages all communications with the WSIB and matters regarding WSIB compliance.

Reporting injuries (as required according to the HOIR) to the Federal Labour Program and Transport Canada as required; escalates Work Refusals to the Director for intervention.

Employee Relations

Participate in coaching, counseling, and advising management and staff to ensure resolution of employment related matters.

Partner with front line managers on the employee lifecycle milestones: onboarding, performance management, employee relations, salary reviews, medical or parental leaves, promotions, and offboarding:

o Managing Workplace Accommodations Disability or Injury Related

o Employee Relations, Disciplinary Issues, Performance Improvement Plans, Terminations, Exit Interviews (with support of the Director), Main PoC for Outsourced Workplace Investigations/Designated Recipient (under CLC)

o Managing Leaves of Absence (Protected and Personal) and working with managers on Attendance Management Issues; monitor monthly attendance reports from HR Specialist and track negative trends for corrective action

o Issuing wage increase letters or updated employment agreements as needed with job changes or salary changes

o Issuing change letters per Code for all other changes to the Employer Statement.

o Act as the Designated Recipient under the Code for all workplace harassment and violence complaints and escalates all issues to the Director.

Assist the Payroll & HR Specialist by providing relevant employee information required for processing employee transactions (e.g., leaves of absence, sick days, and changes in work schedules or compensation as well as updates to personal information in the HRIS system, etc.).

Any other ad-hoc HR Ops & Admin projects and tasks as assigned from time to time

Qualifications Hard Skills:

Preference given to candidates with post-secondary education Human Resources Management

Minimum College Diploma with 3+ years on-the-job experience in all pillars of Human Resources

o Experience with Federal Legislation is an asset

o Experience with BambooHR (HRIS) is an asset

o Experience with Learning Management Software (LMS) is an asset

o Experience in Aviation is also an asset

Bonus points for CHRP designation or similar designation or actively working towards.

Advanced Computer Skills including Microsoft Office (MS Teams, Excel, Outlook, and Word)

Candidate must have G2 or higher license and be able to provide own transportation to and from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport
