At MistyWest, a project manager is an engineering leader who leads and manages the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of a project. The role involves managing resources, budget, timelines, quality, risks, and other project constraints to ensure successful project delivery.
The project Manager works closely with customer needs, translates them into high-level requirements, and leads the team toward successful project outcomes. They collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to complete both product development and research tasks in a variety of industries and market segments.
The project manager continuously develops and iterates on project management best practices and processes at MistyWest.
Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead small to large-scale projects with medium to high complexity, ensuring successful outcomes that align with client expectations.
- Team Coordination: Oversee and align engineering teams to deliver projects efficiently while meeting technical, budgetary, and timeline requirements.
- Scope & Planning: Define project scope, work breakdown, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with technical leads.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Create and maintain project schedules and budgets, monitoring progress and mitigating risks.
- Client Engagement & Communication: Conduct weekly check-ins with clients to assess satisfaction, manage expectations, and enhance project transparency.
- Resource & Procurement Management: Determine, allocate, and onboard human and non-human resources while overseeing procurement and supply chain logistics.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to engineering standards, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze project KPIs, including profitability, cost performance, and client satisfaction.
- Process Improvement & Best Practices: Develop, refine, and implement project management best practices to improve project delivery and client experience.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of project management experience in an engineering company.
- Multidisciplinary technical background is a plus.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams (up to 10 people).
- Previous experience with contract manufacturers and regulatory bodies, particularly in the automotive or medical industries.
- Experience in product, electronics, or mechanical development.
- Previous experience delivering >1,000 units in a production environment.
Project Management Skills - Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Kanban, Waterfall).
- Knowledge of risk and change management techniques.
- Proficiency in project management tools (Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello).
- PMP certification or Certified Scrum Master is a plus.
Competencies & Soft Skills - Exceptional communication skills to foster integrity, transparency, and trust.
- Strong leadership competency and ability to manage teams effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

The base salary range for this role is CAD$105,000-$119,000, depending on the competency level in project management.
