This Registered Practical Nurse position will work primarily at our HIV and Gender Affirming Care Clinic in Guelph and Kitchener.
The Registered Practical Nursemaintainsthe smooth and efficient flow of patients through their appointments by receiving patients, assigning them to exam rooms,undertaking prescribed intake procedures, andassistingthe practitioners, asrequested. In addition, they helpmaintainthe efficiency of the clinic by ensuring an adequate supply of common medications, medical supplies and sterilized equipmentis on hand at all times.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Works as part of the primary health care team
- Works at the top of scope of RPN practice
- Demonstrates safe, qualitypractice
- Maintains smooth and efficient flow of patients through theirappointments
- Provides safe administration of medications and immunizations, venipuncture, disinfection/sterilization of equipment and environment, client education andassistspractitioners asrequested.
- Triage clients to prioritize urgentneeds
- Ensures adequate supply of common medications and medicalsupplies
- Perform phlebotomy and collection of other specimens fortesting
Required Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nursewith the CNO
- Completed current medicationcourse
Thorough knowledge and proficiencyin current nursing principles and practices - 3-5 years broad-based practical nursing experience - a community primary health care settingdesired
- Treat each client with compassion,dignityand respect even in the face of challengingsituations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary teamenvironment
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based healthcare
- Computerproficiencywith electronic charting
- Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS, people who identify as Transgender and people seeking gender affirming care, considered anasset
- Lived or living experience considered anasset
