- Seeking a dedicated civil engineer to support the design of site facilities, including site layout, earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control. In this role, you will review designs to ensure they comply with industry codes, client standards, and permitting requirements across various jurisdictions. Additionally, you will provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior members of the civil design team.
- Preparing cost estimates, material take-offs, scope of work, and design basis documents.
- Prepare relevant Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and engineering reports.
- During construction, you will offer engineering support, which may include traveling for site visits and providing on-site support.
- Overseeing the preparation of As-Built drawings and project close-out data will also be part of your responsibilities.
- Maintaining excellent working relationships with existing clients and actively promoting Safety in Design principles are essential aspects of this role.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of work experience in civil design for site facilities, including earthworks, site grading, utility tie-ins, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control systems.
- Experience with Civil 3D or extensive experience with AutoCAD.
- Strong research skills to understand local permitting needs related to civil infrastructure.
- Registered as an active member with APEGA or eligibility for registration.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta (P.Eng.) or Ontario (PEO).
- 6-8 years of experience in civil site grading and earthworks.
- Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience with hydrological modeling software (e.g., SWMM, SWMHYMO, VO-OTTHYMO) is an asset.
