Role Overview
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior QC Technician ensures product consistency and quality by conducting various quality control tests during the manufacturing process and works with cross-functional teams to improve QC processes.
As the company grows, this role may evolve into a QC Team Lead position, which would involve delegating daily tasks and providing technical supervision of the QC team.
Responsibilities
- Perform various quality control tests for the manufacturing process to ensure consistency and quality (e.g. PCBA testing on test jig, continuity testing on electrical circuits, charging/discharging batteries, HiPoT testing)
- Prepare testing reports for review and approval
- Ensure inspection/quality tools are maintained and periodically calibrated as needed
- Maintain test systems (e.g. PCBA verification, factory acceptance tests)
- Support quality investigations to identify root cause, follow-up on action items until completion
- Work with cross-functional teams to assist the improvement and development of SOPs
- Contribute to Lean and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure compliance with IPC J-7711/J-7721/IPC-A-610 within the quality department
- Undertake special projects as required or other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in QC Technician role within the electronics manufacturing environment
- Experience in maintaining quality test systems and jigs
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and electrical schematics, reviewing calculations, as well as statistical analysis of processes and test data
- Knowledge of HiPoT (High Potential Tester) and oscilloscope
- Experience in developing SOPs, work instructions and drafting technical reports
- Proficient in computer applications (e.g. MS Office 365 - Forms, Excel, SharePoint)
- Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize
- Proactive, growth mindset, and resourceful
- Adapts quickly to change; navigates effectively through uncertainty and ambiguity
Nice to have:
- 2 years of experience with low voltage systems (24v to 48v)
- Certificate or training onIPC 7711/7721/IPC-A-610
- Python programming experience (for PCB testing)
- Knowledge or experience with PLC control system
- Experience with battery testing; understanding of inverters and rectifiers, split phase and 3-phase systems
- Sheet metal fabrication knowledge (for inspection purposes), and knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) to perform quality checks on mechanical components
- Experience leading a small QC team (i.e. delegate daily tasks, provide technical supervision)
Location: This role is 100% on-site at our Vancouver, BC location.
Work Hours: 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours/week)
