Position Overview:

As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of our organization. You will be responsible for managing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance to support strategic decision-making and drive sustainable growth. Your expertise in financial management and internal controls will ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting team coach on day-to-day tasks, set schedules and deadlines, and provide mentorship and development opportunities. Oversee their tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and expense reconciliations, etc.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operation of an accounting audit.
  • Develop and implement the financial policies, systems and procedures of an establishment
  • Prepare or coordinate the preparation of financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports
  • Coordinate the financial planning and budget process, and analyze and correct estimates
  • Take ownership of the organization's month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion with a high level of accuracy. Maintain and complete process checklists, continuously updating them to align with the company's evolving needs.
  • Be responsible for maintenance of the general ledger system; prepare appropriate entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Be accountable for timely and accurate submission of tax filings and state-level reporting.
  • Lead and administer our annual planning process and re-forecasting cycles.
  • Oversee our current internal controls and strengthen them as our team and business grow.
  • Drive the automation of financial systems and seamlessly integrate them with other business systems.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to executives, equity and debt investors
  • Oversee and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimize financial planning.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified professional accountant (Canadian CPA).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of full-cycle accounting experience with at least two (2) years of experience managing a small team
  • Expertise in overseeing and coordinating the annual audit process, ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • IFRS experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Xero and Fathom is an asset.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritizing, and managing multiple accounts at the same time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The annual compensation is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and alignment to the market .
