Reporting directly to the Regional General Manager of Venues, theOperations Manager is accountable for the overall success of the building; acting as a representative and in the best interest of the venue.

The ideal Operations Manager for the Biltmore Cabaret is passionate about live music, thrives in hospitality and guest service, and excels in business operations and technology. With a strong connection to the local music scene, youre eager to represent the venue and our organization as a true ambassador.

For over 50 years, the Biltmore has been a fixture in the community as both a public house for Vancouverites and a platform for ground-breaking musical performances. Drawing from the rich local scene in Vancouver as well as the best in Canadian and international touring acts, The Biltmore Cabaret showcases talent from across a wide spectrum of music and the arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Venue Operations: Oversee all aspects of service, safety, capacity, atmosphere, and financial performance, including timecard approvals, tip pool management, and month-end cash counts.
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe environment and uphold all legal requirements and brand standards.
  • Deliver Exceptional Guest Experience: Proactively address guest concerns with honesty and fairness, while creating Positive Shareable Experiences that keep guests coming back.
  • Build & Lead a High-Performing Team: Recruit, train, and develop a positive and engaging work culture with opportunities for growth and learning.
  • Drive Smooth Daily Operations: Manage schedules, staffing levels, and pre-shift huddles to ensure team alignment and service excellence.
  • Champion Brand Experience: Collaborate with marketing on revenue-driving events and engage with guests inside and outside the venue to drive foot traffic and brand awareness.
  • Maintain Inventory & Financial Accuracy: Handle ordering, inventory management, and cash control with precision.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 1+ years with experience in music venue operations considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of sound and music equipment considered an asset (training provided)
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively during peak timeswith strong conflict resolution skills
  • Adept ability to pick up systems such as Slack, Asana, Google Suite, etc. (training provided)
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, retain, and engage team members
  • Experience leading a team with the ability to coach, delegate and support
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Track record of running a profitable hospitality business
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
