Drafting Coordinator

PME Inc. is based in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The PME Group provides civil site work and common construction services to the oil and gas industry in Western Canada. The key bases of work have most recently been to the oil refineries, oil sands development and oil and gas pipeline sectors in the greater Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan and Fort McMurray areas. In the position of a Drafting Coordinator, we would ask you to do the following;

  • Analysis and creation of surfaces with the use of spatial data
  • Analyzing field notes, conventional and GNSS raw data and construction drawings
  • Prepare site grading, road, pipeline corridor and pad facility designs, pile layouts based on IFC drawings.
  • Prepare As-built plans.
  • Compare site designs with as-builts.
  • Perform survey calculations and prepare drafting plans
  • Calculate earthwork volumes
  • Produce accurate and detailed drafting products using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other related modelling programs
  • Identifying and managing spatial data errors with in a CAD environment while collaborating with site supervision and field surveyors;
  • Understanding survey plan and construction plan content
  • Using multiple communication tools, interacting regularly with internal and external clients to deliver optimal product.
  • Perform survey calculations for construction layouts for field personnel
  • Understanding layers, line types and individual client requirements
  • Quality control for construction layouts
  • Preparing site and topographic surveys and volume calculations
  • Liaising with clients, field and office staff

Sounds challenging and exciting right? Here are a few of the attributes and experience you need to be successful in this position;

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Geomatics with 5+ years of experience in site grading, pad and road design, foundation work, and 3D computer modelling.
  • Experience in surveying, oil and gas, and the municipal drafting industry is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be highly proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Industrial and heavy civil experience an asset. Knowledge of the survey industry and township system is beneficial.
