Work Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Forklift Experience: Preferred, but training will be provided Position Summary:
- The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the movement of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility.
- Follow all workplace safety and product quality policies and guidelines.
- Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Transport materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated storage locations.
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins based on predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fulfill requisitions, work orders, or material requests and distribute them to production areas.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Open bales, crates, and other containers.
- Record amounts of materials received or distributed.
- Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Use a computer to enter records.
- Operate material handling equipment to transport stored items.
- Load and unload trailers of palletized and non-palletized products.
- Utilize manual material handling equipment.
- Adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Contribute to division results and performance.
- Address internal and external customer needs and expectations.
- Required: Must have a 2-year degree or diploma.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management staff.
- Must be able to read and process information through warehouse computer software.
- Relevant work experience in a similar role.
- Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see constantly.
- Must be able to walk, write, and type frequently.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull frequently.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from 0 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May work in areas requiring hearing protection due to noise levels.
- May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt. Work surfaces may include concrete.
- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
- Some travel to other locations, meetings, and/or seminars may be required (5% for business needs).
- Experience: 1-3 years in a related field.
