We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Digital Literacy Instructor to join our team, focused on providing support to clients undergoing vocational rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will possess a background in supporting others through life transitions, coupled with expertise in Microsoft Office programs. The role involves empowering clients with the digital skills necessary for success in todays workforce while offering emotional support to address the unique challenges they may face during this time in their lives.
Responsibilities:
Digital Literacy Training
- Manage incoming client referrals.
- Contact clients via telephone to schedule appointments.
- Deliver one-on-one, virtual digital literacy training programs tailored to the needs and skill levels of clients.
- Provide comprehensive instruction on Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Individualized Support
- Conduct assessments to identify the digital literacy skills of individual clients.
Emotional Support
- Foster a supportive and empathetic environment for clients navigating vocational rehabilitation.
- Address emotional and psychological aspects related to the challenges of acquiring new skills and re-entering the workforce.
Progress Monitoring
- Track and document clients progress in both digital literacy and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to adjust strategies based on individual needs.
Collaboration
- Attend team meetings as required.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Proactive, empathetic and motivational approach to working with clients, identifying and solving problems.
- Understanding of mental health barriers facing individuals who may have experienced trauma.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and levels of digital literacy.
- Effective time management and organization skills to balance the demands of one-on-one instruction of multiple learners with varying skill levels.
- Detail-oriented, deadline driven with the ability to follow standard processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Reliable and consistent with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Dedicated and free from distractions private workspace.
- Computer or laptop with proof of antivirus software.
- High-speed internet connection.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Criminal record check.
Qualifications:
Education
- Diploma or Degree in the helping profession such as but not limited to Social Work, Social Service Work, Teacher, Educational Assistant, Mental Health Worker, etc.
Experience
- Proven experience as a digital literacy instructor or in a related role.
- Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation processes and challenges.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (or ability to self-teach).
- Ability to adapt to emerging digital tools and technologies.
Languages:
- English is mandatory.
- French is considered an asset.
Wage:
- $19.00 - $23.00 per hour.
