Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Warehouse & Logistics Manager, the Logistics Specialist supports the Warehouse & Logistics manager with ensuring optimal functioning of various aspects within the supply chain. The Logistics Specialist provides expertise to ensure that the most optimal turnaround of the supply chain and logistics strategies are implemented.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Order Processing

  • Receive and process customer orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to confirm product availability and delivery timelines in the most optimal way possible.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff and other logistics staff to ensure shipment targets are met.

Shipping and Receiving

  • Arrange and schedule shipments with carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Coordinate the receipt and inspection of incoming goods, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with carriers, suppliers, and other logistics service providers.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with vendors to optimize cost-effectiveness.
  • Address and resolve issues related to damaged goods, shipping delays, or other logistics-related challenges.

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs declarations.
  • Support with the creation and updating of logistics policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions.

Communication

  • Liaise with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to coordinate logistics activities.
  • Provide timely updates to customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders regarding order status and delivery schedules.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, import/export laws, and other relevant standards.
  • Assist in obtaining and verifying necessary permits and licenses for international shipments.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure safety risks are mitigated.

Tracking, Monitoring and Data Analysis

  • Utilize tracking systems to monitor the movement of shipments in real-time.
  • Proactively identify and address potential delays or disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving measures.
  • Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics efficiency.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in Logistics and Supply Chain.
  • Knowledge and expertise in Logistics in a warehouse environment.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
