Salary:

We are seeking an experienced Certification Lead with expertise in DO-254 and DO-178C standards to oversee and manage certification processes for airborne hardware and software systems. CoreAVI, A Lynx Software Technologies Company, is a highly successful safety critical solution provider and has led the definition of enabling standards such as the OpenGL SC 2.0 specifications. We are a key participant within the Khronos Group defining new safety critical graphics and compute standards, as well as members of the VITA hardware standards group.

The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering teams, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable aviation safety standards and guidelines. They will need to communicate effectively and work optimally with our geographically and culturally diverse team members as well as with certification authorities and customers

Main Responsibilities:

  • Certification Planning & Execution: Refine and implement process development processes in accordance with DO-254 (hardware) and DO-178C (software) standards.
  • Process Document Creation: Write and update DO-254 and DO-178C process documents.
  • Documentation Management: Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of key certification artifacts, including Plans for Hardware Aspects of Certification (PHAC), Hardware Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Compliance Reports.
  • Process Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate certification requirements into the system development lifecycle.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on best practices for hardware and software certification, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, and AC 20-152A.
  • Verification & Validation Oversight: Ensure robust verification, validation, and traceability processes are implemented for both hardware and software components.
  • Audit & Review Support: Prepare for and participate in certification audits, including SOI (Stage of Involvement) audits conducted by regulatory authorities including DERs.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate certification risks, ensuring project deliverables meet safety and compliance requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a primary liaison between engineering teams, certification authorities, and customers to address certification-related concerns.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in aerospace certification with a strong background in DO-254 or DO-178C.
  • Hands-on experience in preparing certification artifacts and supporting compliance activities.
  • Strong understanding of safety assessments, system engineering practices, and quality assurance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly write and review complex documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership skills within a software or hardware development team.
  • Fluent in American English (spoken and written).
  • Having supported at least one external audit of a project they lead.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with avionics hardware and software lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management and Change Control processes.
  • Understanding of emerging trends in software and hardware certification methodologies.
  • Certification experience with DAL A/B systems is a plus.
