Job Summary

The Restaurant Operations Manager is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of JC's Hot Bagels. This position ensures smooth, efficient service, maintains high standards of quality, and fosters a positive work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to company standards.
    • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with health and safety regulations.
    • Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures.
    • Manage equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
    • Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.
    • Provide coaching and feedback to staff, promoting professional development.
    • Resolve staff conflicts and address performance issues.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Customer Service:
    • Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving complaints promptly.
    • Monitor customer feedback and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all guests.
  • Financial Management:
    • Monitor sales and expenses, identifying areas for cost control and revenue growth.
    • Manage cash handling and ensure accurate financial reporting.
    • Assist with budget development and forecasting.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial and national food safety laws and regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with all labour laws.

RequirementsQualifications
  • Proven experience in restaurant management, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (including local Burlington, Ontario regulations).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Financial literacy and experience with budgeting and inventory management.
  • Experience with POS systems (specify any system that is used at JC's Hot Bagels).
  • A passion for food and customer service, with a focus on serving the Burlington community.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).
  • Experience with hiring, training, and managing staff.
  • Understanding of local labor laws.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with bagel or bakery operations.
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality management or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Burlington food service market.
