This assignment is an ongoing Full-Time position 42.5 hours per week. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling facility and landfill operations.
THE ROLE:
Operates heavy equipment including excavators and front loaders with the ability of spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or solids in a landfillInspects and performs daily routine servicing on equipment Identifies equipment problems and reports need for equipment servicing and repair Monitors solid waste while moving, compacting or covering trash to identify and report any hazardous materialsPerforms laboring work in the maintenance and construction of the site assignedAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsPerforms all other duties assigned by the Operation Manager
REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Two (2) Years experience in Heavy Equipment operation is required Valid Driver's License with Clear Driver's Abstract is requiredCSA Approved Steel Toe Boots are requiredAbility to lift up to 25lbs on a frequent basis is requiredAbility to sit, stand, walk on uneven and slippery surface, reaching, kneeling, bending and repetitive hand movements is requiredMust be comfortable working outdoors in variable temperatures and weather conditionsAbility to work in a landfill environment which include strong odors, dust, & air contaminants
Fluency in English is required
