About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled IBMi Developer to join our IT team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting applications running on the IBMi (iSeries AS/400) platform. You will work with SQL, Node.js, RPG, RPGLE, and CL to optimize system performance, automate business processes, and develop integrations with external applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various business teams to deliver effective technical solutions that align with organizational needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Application Development & Maintenance: Design, develop, maintain, and optimize applications on the IBMi platform using SQL, Node.js, RPG, RPGLE, and CL
  • Database Management: Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures (DB2, DDS, DDL) to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation
  • System Integration & Web Services: Design and develop RESTful APIs using JSON to integrate IBMi Power systems with external platforms
  • Database Communication: Utilize Embedded SQL for secure and efficient data access, retrieval, and system communication
  • Process Automation & Optimization: Work closely with business teams to identify areas for process improvement and automation to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Technical Analysis & Problem-Solving: Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable technical solutions, while troubleshooting and debugging existing applications to resolve system issues
  • Testing & Deployment: Perform thorough testing and validation to ensure a smooth transition into production environments
  • Continuous Learning & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging IBMi technologies, recommend improvements, and implement best practices to enhance system performance, security, and reliability.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with IT and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience as an IBMi Developer
  • Extensive knowledge in SQL, Embedded SQL, DB2, DDS, and DDL for database management and integration.
  • Experience developing and integrating REST web services using JSON on the IBMi platform.
  • Strong programming skills in RPG, RPGLE, RPG Free and CL
  • Familiarity with VS Code, Node.js, and modern development tools considered an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing and order lifecycle applications preferred
  • Knowledge of Git for version control and collaborative development is considered an asset

Location: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, N3R 7K1 (On-site, 5 days a week)

Hours of Work: Monday Friday, 8:00 am 4:30 pm/ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
