Our knowledgeable and dedicated BC Geomatics team is searching for a Utility Line Locating Assistant in the Lower Mainland area.
We are looking for someone with a technical background, love of exploring, working outside, and a voracious appetite for utility locating!
What you will do:
- Arrive at work on time and prepared for the assigned task and shift.
- Assist with various tasks as required, track and maintain housekeeping of tools, equipment and materials at project sites, office and in crew vehicles.
- Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and act as a positive ambassador for the company.
- Assist Line Locating Technicians in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
- Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
- Adhere to, without exception, the safety requirements of the client, OH&S and the GeoVerra Safety program.
- Actively participate in Emergency Response Planning, Hazard Assessment, Job Safety Analysis development, daily tailgate meetings and comply with all safety requirements.
- Previous experience in Utility Locating or Surveying or other related types of work in the great outdoors preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly for the client, project, and GeoVerra requirements.
- Commitment to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.
- Capacity to take directions and communicate effectively.
- Availability to work NIGHT shifts occasionally.
- An understanding of utility locating methodologies is considered an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
- Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid and CSTS safety training is an asset.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
- Previous experience locating underground utilities: Gas, Electrical, Telecommunications, Cable Coax cables, Fiber optics, water, sanitary, storm, sewer ...etc. within the Lower Mainland BC would be considered as an asset.
- Knowledge and experience of pipeline, lease and facility construction would be considered an asset.
- Primarily local work but there may be travel required to support other projects.
- There is the possibly for a night shifts on an infrequent basis or weekend shifts.
- Carrying, lifting, and pushing up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Working outside in all weather conditions.
- Wage range: $22-25.00/hour depending on experience
