Job Scope

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Journeyperson Mechanic plays a crucial role in insuring the proper functionality of our units on the road. By inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing Truck, trailer and APU components.

Job Responsibilities

• Always maintain a safety mindset and contribute to a positive workplace culture
• Interpret work orders, CRY sheets, and technical/manufacturer/CVIP manuals
• Perform effective preventative maintenance, services, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy duty trucks, pilot trucks, trailers and APU units.
• Mentor, develop, and support apprentices for future growth and development.
• Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturers/company procedures and in safe and in responsible manner.
• Maintain open communication with the Shop Foreman, Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, Shop staff, Truck Drivers, and Dispatch if required.
• Maintain communication with the Shop Hand to ensure effective shop/yard maintenance and supply ordering.
• Maneuver, transport, and test drive Trucks and Trailers with active Class 1 or 3.
• Actively participate in the growth and development of the Shop processes.
• Maintain Parts Room etiquette to maintain functionality.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures
• Complete required high-quality documentation, such as service work orders/stories.
• Provide guidance to truck drivers on truck conditions and performing minor repairs on the road
• Additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic: Journeyman or inter-provincial Red Seal Journeyman
• Minimum of 2 years experience in the medium/heavy duty truck industry is required.
• Active CVIP License is required
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Class 1 or 3 License is considered an asset.

Must have reliable transportation to work.
